Recently went on a Lady Elliot Is retreat with UAA and was so thrilled by the experience. I finished my PADI Freediver today and am extremely happy! John is an incredibly talented PADI instructor. He trained me for my PADI Rescue Diver, and since then, he inspired me to try out freediving! It was the very best experience! John is very patient, super relaxed and he takes exceptionally well care of his students. Him being a Yoga teacher helped going through all the breathing techniques during the initial preparation to get into relaxation. Learn the basics of Freediving in the safe confines of a pool

This course covers the theory and confined water elements of learning to Freedive, and we practice both static and dynamic apnea disciplines over one day or 2 half-days/evenings.

Our introductory course, especially for the younger people who want to discover the underwater world.

Conducted over 2 tailored sessions we introduce you to the underwater world in a safe, controlled, and easy way that teaches about equipment, the underwater environment, interacting with aquatic life, the effects of being underwater on the skin diver, the buddy system and safety procedures.

Dive deeper, longer, safely – confidently

This course will refine and develop your skills, taking you from an entry level Freediver to being able to Constant Weight Freedive 20 to 24 metres deep, Dynamic Apmea of at least 50 metres, and Static Apnea for at least 2 minutes and 30 seconds!

We start with reviewing the more advanced theory about your body and mind as a Freediver, refresh ourselves about safe diving practices, then jump into the heated pool for static and dynamic practice, working on streamlining and technique and exploring “no-fins”.

On day2 we are out on the boat to find clean deep water and explore greater depths before refining our advanced rescue skills.

Discover your “super-powers”

UAA will take you from a complete beginner to being able to Freedive 10 to 16 metres deep, swim at least 25 metres underwater, and hold your breath at least 90 seconds – in just 2 days!

Day 1 is at the pool where you are introduced to the skills and techniques of Freediving with a thorough introduction to the breathwork along with plenty of time for practice and skill mastery, as well as getting used to the equipment we use.

Day 2 we head out to open water and practice various depth disciplines of Freediving, learning to adjust our bodies and minds, and equalize while descending to a maximum depth of 16 metres. We practice “Constant Weight” and “Free Immersion” dives and have the opportunity to also try “Variable Weight” and “Constant Weight No Fins” depending on the group and the conditions, while also learning and practicing buddy and safety techniques.

Along with our focus on safety throughout the course, our qualified Yoga Teacher will take you through various breathing exercises (Pranyama) to help you prepare your mind and body as well as thoroughly relax, connecting your mind and body and the correct breathing for Freediving. These elements can then translate to life outside of freediving and benefit your everyday life.
